As you may know, by reading my blog, Hope has a leg brace. Because she only has one brace, we have to buy mismatched size shoes. They also have to be low cut around the ankle to make room for the hinges of her brace. As you can imagine, this can be very trying when you have a tired toddler and you've been to children's shoe store after children's shoe store. Well, we found out something that we didn't know! Nordstroms will sell you a mismatched pair of shoes! Their staff is also knowledgeable in fitting children with braces! We had the best service and care at the Nordstroms in King of Prussia, PA. I was thrilled. I have not ordered online, but I understand their mismatched shoe policy extends to shoes purchased online. I *think* you have to return the 2nd "pair" to their store, though. It may be worth calling and asking, if you don't live near a Nordstroms and have a child with only one brace.
So that's my Try This tip for this week! Hope it helps someone!

I LOVE Nordstrom's shoe department, not because of the policy you mentioned but because they carry shoes in my ridiculously small shoe size (4 1/2).
I also wanted to mention Hatchbacks shoes. Have you seen those? You can only get them online (hatchbacksfootwear.com). My son wore AFO's for a while, and these shoes are made to fit over the orthotic. They also come with several padded inserts, so you could just insert those for the leg without a brace. Don't know if these would work for your daughter or not, but thought I would mention it!
Maggie thats great! When I buy shoes, I have to buy 2 pairs because my feet are different sizes (I wore a brace when I was a child, but not now). Is this what you are talking about? They will sell a left size 8 with a right size 6? I wonder if this works for adults (like myself) as well?
Jenny, we have thought about hatchbacks, and there is actually a place in MD that keeps them in stock and you can buy direct from them. They (the place in MD, not the company) will even sell mismatched sizes as a pair! But we opted for the shoes from Nordstroms because they are cheaper!
Jamie, yes! That is what I'm talking about! Do you have a Nordstroms near you? It's a wonderful thing they do!
